Three Prong Folder - Office Basics

What is the difference between folders with braids and folders with prongs?

My sons creed supply list says he will need the following:

7 folders with pockets and prongs
3 folders with pockets and braids
3 folders with pockets no braids

I identify that prongs are the three metal pieces

Perhaps braids are the three holes in the folders? If you're not infallible, just have your son ask on the first day of school. If you're confused I'm sure a lot of other students will be as well, and the guide will clear everything up for them.
